Bethany J. Peak’s practice is focused on the representation of businesses. She is experienced advising business owners and management as well as a wide array of civil litigation matters. She has handled all phases of pre-trial litigation, including discovery, depositions, law and motion matters, and trial preparation.

Prior to joining LimNexus, Ms. Peak worked for a civil trial and appellate firm, providing employment defense for a major Health Plan. Her practice also included arbitrating payor-provider disputes between hospitals and insurance companies, and the representation of healthcare providers in medical malpractice appeals before the California Court of Appeal.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Peak served as a law clerk for the Honorable Michele D. Hotten on the Maryland Court of Appeals, where she drafted appellate opinions in civil and criminal matters. Some published opinions include McClure v. Lovelace (2013) 214 Md. App. 716 and Sierra Club et al. v. Dominion Cove Point LNG, L.P. (2014) 216 Md. App. 322.

Ms. Peak received her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law, where she was selected as a Dean’s Fellow. Prior to that, she studied international economics and politics at UC Berkeley. She currently serves as an appointed member of the Committee of Bar Examiners for the State Bar of California.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained summary judgment following oral argument for individual physician in medical malpractice lawsuit.
  • Settled multi-million dollar claim for a major health insurance plan against multiple healthcare providers.
  • Authored Amicus Curie brief to the CA Supreme Court on behalf of several medical associations.
