Bankruptcy Paralegal (Full Time or Part Time)

LimNexus seeks a polished Bankruptcy Paralegal to support a growing Bankruptcy practice in our Los Angeles office in addition to supporting general business litigation practice. Part time/Remote arrangement can be considered. Please send resumes to [email protected].

Responsibilities

  • Draft Motions for Relief, Responses, Proof of Claims, Fee Applications, demand letters, basic bankruptcy and adversary proceeding pleadings, including notices of appearance, civil information sheets, requests for special notice, declarations, orders, etc.
  • Prepare template/shell legal documents
  • Compile and prepare exhibits
  • Prepare for hearings and creditor meetings; hearing resolutions
  • Prepare and file of UCC-1 and UCC-3 filing statements
  • Research (statutes, procedural rules, land searches and Secretary of State websites)
  • Review and follow local court rules and complex case procedures
  • Verbal and written communication with clients and external parties such as co-counsel, court clerks, trustees, and opposing counsel; and prepare attorney notebooks
  • Electronic filing of documents with bankruptcy court
  • Review Court docket (PACER) and monitor ECF emails for important filings

Required Skills

  • Exceptional analytical skills; attention to detail; excellent planning and organizing skills
  • Technical knowledge in the area of practice-related codes, statutes and regulations
  • Must have knowledge of bankruptcy rules and proceedings in both State and Federal Courts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat is required
  • Court filing experience with Cm/ECF and Pacer is required

Education & Experience

  • College degree is preferred
  • Certificate or Associate’s degree from an ABA-accredited paralegal program in lieu of one year of work experience required
  • At least 7 years of experience providing paralegal support in the area of bankruptcy law is required. Knowledge of Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure is required. Experience with debtor and creditor filings and Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 required

Litigation Secretary

LimNexus seeks a Litigation Secretary with minimum 10 years of experience in commercial litigation. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communications skills, is highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of independently managing work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced legal environment with minimal supervision. Responsibilities

  • File documents with various Courts, perform appropriate service on all filings; retrieve court dockets, cases and other materials from various online databases, and track status of cases
  • Revise, proofread and maintain a variety of litigation documents
  • Prepare (including TOC and TOA)
  • Maintain court deadlines, events and meetings using Amicus and Outlook calendars
  • Work with vendors to arrange depositions, court calls, and messenger/attorney service
  • Assist with trial prep
  • Organize electronic and hard files
  • Draft notices to set, to continue, deposition
  • Draft discovery requests such as requests for production, interrogatories, requests for copies and requests for admissions
  • Prepare subpoenas

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary
  • Experience in bankruptcy Chapter 7 and 11 proceedings a PLUS
  • Paralegal certificate a PLUS
  • Advanced PC Skills: MS Office
  • Heavy experience with document management programs such as Worldox, iManage, or similar
  • Heavy experience with practice management software programs such as Amicus, Abacus, ProLaw, Compulaw or similar
