September 8, 2011 – In recognition of Lim Ruger’s longstanding commitment to public service and community involvement, the Western Justice Center will present Lim Ruger with the 2011 Builder of Peace Award at its annual gala to be held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel on September 10, 2011. The Western Justice Center Builder of Peace Award recognizes exemplary commitment to the pursuit of a more peaceful society. It is presented to a law firm that demonstrates a continual and distinguished record of supporting alternative dispute resolution, public service, and community involvement. The last three recipients of this distinguished award were Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (2008), O’Melveny & Myers, (2009), and Latham & Watkins (2010).
“We are thrilled and honored to receive this recognition,” said Lim Ruger managing partner John Lim. “A core value of our firm is giving back to the community. We hope that we can be a positive example for other small firms to do to the same.”
Lim Ruger is a long time supporter of diversity programs sponsored by minority bar associations and the California Bar Foundation. In 2009 the firm received the Client Service Award from the California Minority Counsel Program.
The Western Justice Center was founded by judges and lawyers affiliated with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The Center’s mission is to increase the opportunity for the peaceful resolution of conflict and to displace the power of violence in our society. The Western Justice Center meets the needs of a diverse population through conflict resolution education, dialogues and peer-to-peer mediation. Lim Ruger partner Christopher Kim sits on the WJC’s distinguished board of directors.
