Bruce Iwasaki Appointed to Committee on Civil Right to Counsel

Los Angeles- October 21, 2010Lim Ruger litigation partner Bruce Iwasaki was recently appointed by Chief Justice Ronald George to the Sargent Shriver Civil Counsel Act Implementation Committee.  The Act establishes pilot projects to provide a right to counsel in important civil cases for people who cannot afford a lawyer.  The committee will advise the California Judicial Council on funding projects that will be jointly proposed by local courts and legal aid organizations.

Litigation Partner Christopher Kim Appointed to Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference

Los Angeles- October 21, 2010Veteran litigator Chris Kim was appointed to serve as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.  This prestigious body is charged with improving the administration of justice within the country's largest federal circuit, encompassing the federal appellate and trial courts of nine Western states.  Lawyer representatives provide advice on topics of concern to the federal courts and bar.   Mr. Kim's many years of trial experience and outstanding reputation were among the reasons for his appointment to this committee.

Lim Ruger Participates in California Bar Foundation's Diversity Scholarship Program

Lim Ruger Helps Forever 21 Expand in South Carolina

Los Angeles- October 21, 2010Lim Ruger advised Forever 21, the international fashion retailer with over 480 stores worldwide, in leasing 30,000 square feet of department store retail space in the historic King Street district in Charleston, South Carolina.  The new location will be Forever 21's first store in the Palmetto State and is expected to create up to 150 jobs.  Handling the transaction for Lim Ruger were Sandy Sakamoto and James Ho.

Lim Ruger Steers Approval of Major Redevelopment Project

Los Angeles- October 21, 2010Lim Ruger helped its client win a multi-million dollar package of redevelopment assistance to develop a twelve acre hotel-retail-office project in Buena Park, California.  We negotiated a development agreement that includes conveyance of land owned by the city's redevelopment agency at no cost, and payment to our client of increased property tax and sales tax revenue over several decades.  The project, which will revitalize the community and provide thousands of jobs, is being undertaken by The Source at Beach, LLC, an affiliate of our long time client M + D Properties, which developed the internationally acclaimed Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, California.
